Erotic realism has emerged as a secular form of photography in its own right. Its purpose is not to depersonalize or exploit, but to reveal the body as a beautiful, sexual, and natural state of being.
Arnold Frolics is a Toronto based photographer who uses nudes, skewed perspectives, floods of light in darkness and subjects who often appear withdrawn and almost defeated to create lonely but magical and dizzying environments. The sense of orientation doesn’t exist anymore, bodies reaching zero gravity. By refusing to deny basic corporeality, Frolics has created a synthesis of soft stimulation and unadulterated reception of these figures. His photos are imperfect but beautiful and haunting. His freshness, which is often a detriment to most artists, is used to his advantage. A beautiful, seductive, reality.
